Trek Gatlang to Tatopani

We walked through Gatlang village and were dismayed to discover much nicer more interesting accommodation offerings than that where we stayed, you have to be alert to your guides as often they will take you to places where they see their friends or get some sort of kick back. Oh well, hopefully someone else will benefit by reading this blog.
Gatlang was a nice compact Tamang village, pleasant people, aesthetic buildings and very rural.
There werl lot's of stinging nettles around here. The stinging nettles are used for a nutrient rich soup, and for catching clumsy tourists to assail them with their nasty bite, as we well know.
Religious structures regularly occur along the track, we remember to walk in the right direction - clockwise and marvel at the engraved scriptures.
Rugged terrain. Despite ending up 400m higher than Gatlang at 2600m, we descend steadily to Chilime - the hydroelectric station at 1783m and ascend steeply up. The rhododendrons continue to adorn the scene with their bright red blooms.
Any fears about the wire bridges being strong enough are thrown away when you see mule trains and herd animals crossing them. It's a game to make sure you are across before they proceed !
We spot a local farmer with a horse. Katie persuades him to give her a ride.
Tatopani is a spa town. The buildings are very colourful and in keeping with the steamy nature of the spas, it was raining and misty. We arrive quite tired after a grueling day, on top of the one previously. Our porter was waiting patiently for us, having raced up ahead - there we are with no packs and there is no keeping him with both ours and his own !
The spa was warm, but a yukky brown colour: white clothes became yellow. Being cautious we tried to keep from immersing our heads in the water. It was a pleasant way to soothe our tired bodies.
The map below shows the route.
