Trek: Lama Hotel to Langtang and Kyangin Ri

Image
We left the Gatlang / Briddhim region of our walk by entering the track at Lama Hotel (2470m), and then headed up the Langtang valley staying at Langtang village (3430m.). The next day we walked to Kyangjin village (3870m). In the morning we ascended Kyangjin Ri which is at 4350m and then we descended back to Langtang village.

Today we headed to Lama Hotel which is at the entry point into the Langtang valley. This morning I kicked the ball with the local kids. My stomach was still not quite right, Katie not feeling so well either and slept soundly for quite some time. The walk and heat was taking its toll on her. We probably were not drinking enough water either.

The day starts off bright and sunny. Our mood is upbeat, maybe the prayer flags are working their magic.

I woke up tired. Worse still, my guts are not quite right. Was it the water from the spa, the yak cheese, the Tibetan muesli or those kids in Gatlang. Anyway, a runny tummy is par for the course when travelling, even when travelling in Australia I cop it sometimes. The dogs last night were having a party. They would run around the entire town and bark in each sector, for a seemingly endless period of time.

We walked through Gatlang village and were dismayed to discover much nicer more interesting accommodation offerings than that where we stayed, you have to be alert to your guides as often they will take you to places where they see their friends or get some sort of kick back. Oh well, hopefully someone else will benefit by reading this blog.

Trek: Syabru Besi to Gatlang

Syabru Besi, was the start of our trek. It was a steep and hot one at that. It was a slog for us to move on and up, especially straight after the many hours of flying and car transit.

Kathmandu to Syabru Besi

Today, we drove from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi. While it was a long trip, we traveled in a comfortable SUV with plenty of stops whenever we felt the need. After a lengthy flight from Melbourne, the additional hours on the road felt like nothing—especially as we slept for much of the journey.
