Trek: Nagthali to Briddhim

The day starts off bright and sunny. Our mood is upbeat, maybe the prayer flags are working their magic.
I was glad to have chosen this less trafficked route that is attached to the Langtang Valley trek. It has offered us in insight to the rural way of life and the lovely floral displays of the rhododendrons.
The terrain is hilly , but then so is the future upcoming unrelenting ascent directly up the Langtang valley. By giving ourselves a few more to acclimatize our bodies are in a better position to adapt.
Today we dropped down a long slope, travelling through grain fields and greeting some animals, all along being overlooked by the big mountains. It was quite hot.
We dropped down, for a while, maybe a couple of hours - who's keeping track of time ? There is a checkpoint, manned by a very casual but officious policeman, just to be sure we are the good citizens we say we are.
The locals know how to look after the tired walking commuter. A rest stop presents itself, just at the moment when our bodies say enough!
We earnt our breakfast lunch and dinner all at once, even though it was early in the day, we were famished. Noodle soup is just the ticket for an energizing boost.
We loved the art here with sculptured decoration of the houses and the stone/wood facade of the buildings.
The prayer flags and artworks in the religious buildings are pleasant to look at. The people we meet are genuinely friendly. I have a lot of time for the Nepal and the way of Buddha, the people here seem to embrace the teachings and philosophy, or maybe the fresh air and less stressed approach to life (not that rural life is easy) has something to do with it.
Up in the mountains, man-hauling and the animals are the mode of transport. No trucks nor helicopters here !
A bridge across the raging waters below. We are the bottom of the down bit, meaning one thing: there is toil ahead. No respite here, what goes down, must go up !
Briddhim is up hill at an elevation of 2229m above sea level, wow we have really dropped from our lofty perch of 3124m last night, no wonder we feel empowered with all those oxygenated red blood cells. Reading the sign, we were invited to a home stay and to purchase some local crafts. We will see what we can do to assist in that regard.
Our home for the night. Gotta love the decor. Our hosts were friendly and the lodgings comfortable.
We had a good day today. It was nice and sunny, views were great, my guts were behaving and we met some nice people.
Time to play cards.
Time to do some personal hygiene work.
From the map below you can see by the contours the tremendous valley we dropped into and clambered out of.
